258 - TFI, HEI, or ???

I am finally going to pick up my truck this weekend (thanks to Squirrel and Mark for holding it for me). This will take me past a great U-Pull-It yard. Since it's a ways from home, wanted to pick up the parts to upgrade the distributor. Yeah, I know, don't even have the truck but am thinking of upgrades.

Anyway, I know that the HEI can be done on the 258 with a 77-85? Chebby 250 distributor and AMC 360 drive gear. What about the TFI? I have only found the info on swaps into a 360 not a 258. Anyone know if it can be done and what might be required? Any opinions on which swap might be better? Just looking anyone with experience on it.

I'm not for sure, but from all that I've read you can't make the TFI work on the 258, it won't even work on the early 360's without changing to the later distributor. The HEI is the way to go, very simple and last forever, one wire hook up.

Thanks Marvin, that's what I thought. Most of the threads contain info on both the upgrades and the only links I could find were to the HEI.
