Anyone know how much oil to add to rebuilt York ac compressor during install? Some references say 2.5oz and some say 6.0 to 8.5oz.

I've heard to keep it about half full

Hi Breeze, It should be about 4 oz. if the system was completely evacuated, 2 oz for a new compressor only. hope this helps. John

Oops - maybe I should clarify - I was talking using the compressor for compressed air and it is apparent that jc turtle is referring to using it as a freon (A/C) compressor. So what are you going to be using it for?

I'll be using it for A/C. It,s my daily driver so the priority is for A/C. Later I would like to mount one for OBA if it fits. My smog pump is disconnected, maybe I could mount it there somehow.
