The previous owner broke off the door key inside the rear window lock cylinder. Unfortunately, it is the only door key,; and I have to leave the car unlocked right now. I looked at the lock, and it appears to have what looks like 2 torx screws on the face. I can see the key inside the chamber, but cannot reach it. How do I remove the rear lock cylinder, just unscrew the 2 torx screws?? Or do I need to remove the rear tailgate panel, etc, etc.
Thanks!

As I recall there are 3 screws under the plate held on by the security torx. Removing the 3 screws should get the whole lock assembly off. You might try a dental pick (like dentists use) to get the broken key out. Spray it with lube first and if your luckly it may pull out.

Thanks! That only takes off the spring loaded cover. Under that there are more screws. I haven't gone beyond the cover plate so don't know how to take the cylinder out. Good luck.

Take out the security torx screws, then there are three regular philips-head screws under that spring-loaded cover. Remove those, and the lock slides right out.

Is that also where the switch is that lets the key put the window up and down? My truck's rear window works by the switch on the dash, but not by the key in the tailgate.

That is where the switch is, buy you have to access it from inside the tailgate, which requires removing the glass and the window-regulator/motor.
Yes, it is a PITA.
No, there are no easy shortcuts. :(

Aaron, Check the wires where they enter the tailgate at the hinge. Mine broke in half from being brittle with age and motion. They key switch and the dash switch are wired seperately from each other, so you may not be getting power to the switch. You can access the wires by removing the panel on the tailgate. Do a search in the tech section for the procedure to access the switch. Ditto what Bob Barry says.......PITA. Good luck.

Nope, on the later ones (starting in late '78) all wiring runs through both switches. If the front one works, but the rear doesn't, it's likely a contact in the rear switch. You can disassemble it and try to clean it, or buy a new one (still available from Dodge).
