I was thinking about getting the Edelbrock 14" air cleaner, #1221, to replace the stock breather. However, I was wondering if the 3" filter would be too tall. Is anyone running this? How does it fit under the hood?

Thanks,
Fred

I runt hat aircleaner and a 3" filter did fit fine, but I went back down to a 2" as its far cheaper and still provides about 400% more airflow then the stock snorkle setup.

I run the 14x3 in my Cherokee. It fits fine.

On another note, I run this air-cleaner on my Cutlass, and I'm not pleased with how poorly the chrome has fared. It has a haze of surface-rust all over it. If you are going to use this truck like a truck, you may want to take the limited lifetime of the chrome into account.

Mine is one of the elite aluminum ones. It gets salt "scars" on it and I have to clean it from time to time. It has lots of small pits in it, but is still very usable. Price for living on the coast I guess. smile.gif

no salt here, just moisture from rain/snow. after 1.5 years no rust at all.

Thanks guys!
They don't use too much salt around here, so hopefully the rust won't be a problem. Thanks for the heads up though.

I have a chrome air cleaner assy that I'll
trade for a stock OEM air cleaner assy of
the type that would be original equipment on
an AMC V8 in a FSJ. The chrome looks cool but
is not my "style". Send an E-mail if ya want to trade!!! The one I have looks nice and fits
fine under the hood of my '79 Cherokee.
