Well... Metal Made Rite (MMR) no longer makes the XJ rear Revolver Shackles... Teraflex does. Their price is $185  I looked around and found them for $149 at Trail Quest.
... however...
Our shackles are 3" wide at the bushing pin, The XJ Revolvers (Model XJR) are only 2.5" at the bushing pin.
For the Revolver users:
Did you 'pinch' your mounts to fit or fab spacers to take up the slack and how are they holding up?
Reason I ask... since my tranny/T-case is out, I started to re-fab new shock mounts and have it basically set up for Revolvers and Rancho RS5012 shocks that have a 18.94" compression and 33.10" extension. I just want to know how you made it work...
Also the RFJ-40 Revolver (made for Toyota's by MMR) have the 3" diameter that matches the FSJ shackle... it there a strength issue here to be concerned with in a FSJ? They look like they used puny metal on them...
Thanks...

Hey RB are you talking about the front or rear springs? I will assume the front. Were the revolver attaches to the frame (shackle hanger) mine measures 2.75in. So for now I pinched the hangers over. I plan to make new shackle hangers and weld them in place of the factories. Secondly where the revolver attaches to the springs I used some spacers (i.e. washers) to take up the extra room. The revolvers spring braket is larger than our factories. Since you can take this part off I plan on making the correct size. This is for the front. The rea I haven't examined closely yet. I will as soon as I start my shackle flip. As far as shocks I need lionger ones. I need to RTI it to find my max and min lengrths. The strength issue is in my veiw a none issue. the revolvers are made justas strong if not stronger than the OEM shackles.

Thanks Blt2crl... I was just curious....thanks for the info... and yes... the front. I prolly wont do the rear.... not without SERIOUS thought. I dunno if this mod will be before or after Ouray...I can actually flip my U-bolt plates on the front axle (I fabbed them with shock mounts) to run either my existing shocks or the 5012's if I invert them and use the revolvers.
So the XJR model is the one you have.... where did you get them and how much... $149 is the best price I can find... seen them up to $269!!!!

I do have the XJR model and I got them from trailquest. I e-mailed them and got a quote of $130. With shipping the total was $137, but TeraFlex is only 2.5 hour away from me. The $149 price tag is a good price from what I have seen also.

What is the distance center to center on the mounting!! I am curious of any lift that they might give???

Hey RB did you call them and tell them what you were trying to do? I ran into a guy with a Willy's pickup that was using them and said he talked to the guys at MMR or TeraFlex (I foirget which) and told him him setup and measurements and they hooked him up. Not sure if they mixed and matched for him or what but no shimming was involved.
Why not the rear? Will they not work with your kit properly?
Thanks,
P.J.

Blt3crl,
I figured that was about the best price.... Terflex says $187 for their thru them...looks like trailquest will be my source... thanks :D
PJ,
MMR has a notice on their site that they are no
longer custom fabbing Revolvers for particular applications at this point unitl further notice.
Once I get a pair of the Revolvers, I may 'test fit' them to the rear and see what mods will need to be done. My shackle inversion kit is definately strong enuf, but I KNOW that other mods will play a part and don't want to 'guess' at them right now. One mod, for sure, is the rear brake line.... AGAIN!!! ;)
(For PJ) Are you able to go Saturday? I am leaving my house at 10:00am... if you can... call me)
Brad,
There is a slight lift gained by the install of the Revolvers like 1" if that at the most.
CENTER-TO-CENTER (closed) dimensions is 4.5" (giving 9-11" of droop depending on the model.
our OEM shackles's are like 3-3.5" center-to-center

I got 1.5 in of lift out of the revolvers.

Since I don't have them yet... I may use 9/16" washers as 'spacers' as not to pinch the shackle hangers.
How is the 'road quality'...can you 'feel' a difference in handling at all?

I have the Teraflex Revolver shackles on the Camo Cow in the front. They are not noticable on the street at all but a recent examination (when the were installing the ARB in the front) shows that the teflon/nylon/whatever saddle piece is spliting in the middle. This could be due to the weight of the FSJ compared to the XJ it was intended for. I would like to see these pieces either thicker or made of a material better able to take the weight without flowing/spliting. Otherwise, great. Love the articulation. Will probably do it to the rear after the shackel flip. I used a fender washer on each side to shim to the correct width. I especially like the idea of limiting the twist in the springs if they didn't do anything else.

Also.. is there a warranty on them? If not... look into Delrin plastics... 243 made shackle bushings from this stuff..

I am getting ready to order a set for the front and rear of my Waggy/Crewcab/M715 project. Frame is a 1981 Waggy. Fromm what I can tell researching the site, Rear XJ revolvers will work on all 4 corners with mods. If this is not correct, please advise ASAP. I want to have this truck done in time for Ouray.
Also, any other advise or information would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hadn't gotten around to addressing the Revolvers lately so I don't know what it costs for new inserts. Can't be too much. Was thnking of making them out of aluminum. They would still be sacrificial and probably hold up longer. Noise is not an issue (I don't believe there would be any anyway.)
Been to busy getting the air locker, air compressor/tanks system and the Holley Pro-Jection in stalled and running.
Got new rock sliders also. It's getting there.

Sounds interesting. An '81 waggy frame and 715 axles? how are you going about dealing with springs, perches, frame mounts, etc. The M715 locates the front springs outboard of the frame, like the rear on a chebbie truck. Just wondering what setup you're going to run. I'm building a 76 cheif with 715 running gear, and this is a major issue.

I am using Chevy military CUCV 1.25 ton axles. A dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear. The Chevy Dana 60 bolts into the waggy front springs and I had to change spring pad mounts on the rear 14 bolt. Had to also go crossover on the Dana 60. That is all.
Your best bet is to find the front spring hangers from the M715 you got your axles from and swap them to the Chero. I will look next time I go out to my farm to see if I have any left. Last time I was there I still had an M715 frame, but people have been hauling stuff out of there. I'll let you know.
The rear axle should be as simple as moving the spring perches.
