friend of mine did something to his 727 while wheeling this weekend. he was pulling a non-running xj from a mudhole when it suddenly made a very lond bang,semed like was i N,then back into gear,very violently with another loud bang.
afterward it will n longer pull in D. put it down in 1st and it will go,and you can upshift it into 2nd. if ya get it fast enuff to be in 3rd,it just slips when you upshift it into drive. reverse is still fine.
we immediately checked the obvious(fluid level, throttle linkage)
my guess would be that he blew the o rings on a servo or something.
any other suggestions what to look for when we get it out and open it up? heck,if its not clutch or band related,maybe we dont even need to pull it smile.gif
