alternator belt question

i am switching to an 85 amp alt and it calls for a longer belt. do i really need to use this longer belt. the pulleys are the same size. it looks as though with the longer belts will not have enough space to tighten it on the bracket. thanks

If the pulleys are the same size then having a longer or shorter belt isnt going to affect anything. I'd say get belts that will fit your application.
