TH400/Dana 20 and early Bronco gears

IIRC Porkchop you pursued this and found that it wouldn't work because of the tooth pitch on the input gear, yes? Any other experiences out there?

it will not work with the factory adapter cause the 2.46 input gear(spicer # 18 8 23) has 6 internal splines and will not swap onto the th400s goofy 15 spline tailsahft. it will require and aftermarket 6 spline tailsahft in order to work.

True. Because the #18-8-23 gear has 29 teeth and the 18-8-40 gear is 26 tooth. in order to make the 2.46 low range you need a 29 tooth main gear. Novak does make a tranny tail shaft that will allow you to put on the 29 tooth 6 spline main gear. But it pricey. The tooth pitch was not the trouble.
