I use my Waggie as a winter car and for hauling stuff during the warmer months, but it's back on the road full time for the New England winter. Went from one end of Massachusetts to the other to pick up a puppy (Christmas present for the kids) and the Wagon performed wonderfully in single digit temps.

It's pretty quiet at once at operating temps. At some point I've got to fix the exhaust leak (manifold gasket, I think) because it's "clicking" under acceleration. Really didn't mind the 5 hour drive, sometimes at speeds of 80 mph. Go, Wagoneer, go!!

Always good to hear a positive Jeep Trip story, congrads on the Well running GW.
What Kind of puppy did you get? I love dogs, and I am thinking of getting a puppy soon (in the spring) Having a dog is great.
And just out of wonder, how much did you spend on Gas driving 5 hours at 60-80? For me that would break the bank.
After 2.5 hours in the Wagg I bet that puppy is sure to be a Jeep dog, what a great way to start your life... Its good to be a dog.

I got a 10 week old male collie. I saw its Dad at the farm that breeds the dogs, plus cows and pigs. The Dad looked just like Lassie. I have 4, count 'em, 4 daughters and they wanted a Lassie dog.

I didn't keep close track of the mileage, but it was pretty good for a GW. Probably around 13-13.5 mpg for the trip.

The pup sat on my lap the whole way home. Yep, it's great to be a dog.

Rich, good deal on the pup. I will warn you, if you've never owned a Collie....they can run, AND run, AND run, AND....well, you get the idea. I bought my ex a 1/2 Collie, 1/2 Australian Shepherd puppy that she never really paid enough attention to. That dog paid *us* back (!) by eating books, shoes, carpeting, part of a door and anything else it could reach. With four daughters I think you'll be okay, though.
