Yesterday I replaced my stock-from-1980 Muffler ( 25 inches ) with one that one of my friends chopped off his truck because he was putting on Flowmasters, so I took the muffler from the CH**Y ( 17? inches ) and some of the exhaust pipe to make 25 inches, and my friend welded it on, it sounds A LOT quieter, and I actually have a little bit of backpressure now, so I gained in power! Sorry, just wanted to gloat a little bit tongue.gif

I did the same with my 82 wt.. had flowmasters on there and it drove me freakin nuts!!!! So now I have the stock chevy muffler and it sound great at idel and above give just enough throaty sound and has enough back pressure to keep the engine in good tune and torque

6'4" why would you send this back to the top? Just wondering.

I have a cat-back from a late '90's Chevy F/S pickup on my J-10 shortbed (one piece welded) that countours over the rear axle at the right spot, and dumps in the right spot (behind right rear wheel) - got it for nothing, it's 2.5" aluminized heavy gauge pipes, and indeed it's quiet, and not at all "tinny" like some setups.

I love the deep tone of my cherokee when its under load.
My J10 is silent unless you standing right by the exhaust pipe, then you can barely hear it. One day I would love to setup the exhaust to make it sound like an old i6, like the M715's. I love the sound of those.
