as the list of things to do goes on and on , my 87 gw is slowly getting happier...... but i have a couple of questions.....

1. i dont have the snorkel hose hooked up to the air intake, should i go ahead and buy one of these ?assuming it will improve performace

2. My ac compreesor does not engage when i turn on the switch could this be a bad cluch or something else?

as always thanks for all the help, you guys are lifesavers

Your A/C has a saftey switch located on the fender with a sight glass in it. If freon pressure is low the switch will not allow your A/C clutch to engage. Service the system and hopefully all will be OK. The fresh air hose will give your motor colder air to breath and will improve performance, You wont feel it in the seat of your pants dyno but every little bit helps.

Take the wire to the compressor off and connect a multimeter or a light wire to the wire from the fire wall. With the power switch on and the a/c on there should be 12V supply to the clutch.

the snorkel is a take it of leave it...I didn't have one on mine when i had the motorcraft on it...it ran fine...ehh $12, it couldn't hurt...or add another 20 and do the TFI upgrade to you ignition system...truly a big improvement mod...

You can test the clutch by simply hitting it with a jumper to any +12 source but dont keep the juice to any longer than to hear it clunk, but you wont get any thing from the switch unless there is full pressure in the system.
