I am considering installing either the Rancho or Summit Racing AAL on my '84 GW.

What have been your experiences with either one of these?

The original springs seem to be in good shape. What's the stock height of the GW with stock size tires(235/75/15).

After the installation how much lift can you expect?

Should I go with the Monroe Shocks or the Rancho 5000 or 9000 shocks?

Any pitfalls or words or wisdom you would like to share concerning the install would be greatly appreciated.

I have the Rancho's installed and the rs 5000's and I will have to say that I am very pleased with them. They say that your springs will start to sag over time, mine have not sagged yet. I have not been able to do the heavy wheeling that I have been wanting too since I have just replaced alot and I am not done yet. But for what I payed for all I will have to say that it is a good ride and it performs nice off road. Just my opion.

I have recieved the rear AAL's from Desert Rat. Not sure how much lift they will give I am hopeing to go up about 2". I specified the soft ride AAL,s cause I like the ride I get now. I'm gonna install them as soon as I get a chance. Gotta try out my new compressor and impact tools that I got for my B day today http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif Grunt Grunt!!

Porkchop:

How much additional lift did the SOA provide your truck?

Do you think I could stuff 31" X 10.5" tires mounted on stock rims with the Rancho AAL and 5000 shocks?

With the AAL's I got 2-3" and with the SOA i got close to 7" So I am sitting at about 9-10" over stock(I believe) not to include the tires. I am going to put on a 3" body lift as sson as I get my 35's. I would do it now but there is to much room between tire and fender now and I do not want it to look stupid with small tires.

I am not sure if you will be able to fit 31's or not. As soon as I got my wag it had a SOA on the D27 axle with shot springs and I was able to put on 32's. Sorry.
