On my last CJ I replaced a cooked Motorcraft ignition box with a Mopar one that I had lying around, it only took maybe 1/2 hour and worked great. I'm just wondering why I don't hear about more folks doing the same thing. The Mopar replacements are way cheaper than the Motorcraft ones and are in stock at every parts place in the nation. Is the Motorcraft one better? I'm looking at that big 'ol Motorcraft thing on the fenderwell of my G-Wag and I wonder what's inside this thing that makes it 12 times the size of a Mopar box that does the same job as well or better for way less money. Can anyone enlighten me??

Good question I'd like to know too. As a believer that Ford makes some of the best vehicles and components I think the MC module is pretty good.

I've heard alot of good things about the Mopar orange box which is the high performance version of the Mopar module.

As for the size diffrence maybe the MC module has a heavier case and more epoxy in it. It is made of cast aluminum and the mopar boxes look like stamped steel or alum. So theres one reson why its bigger.
