Repaired a soldered join that was leaking on the top tank. While removing some excess solder from inside the tank, found a stailess steel pin of sorts.
About 1" long by 1/8" in diameter with rounded ends.
Any clues what this is? or where it came from?

this is pure speculation.a piece of thermo maybe? maybe a pin that holds impeller to shaft on waterpump? if the wags not running hot, i would'nt worry, prolly left over from a previous eqpt failure (hope hope pray pray)

I once had a a tough time getting a thermostat out and ended up breaking it. I would have been very easy to drop a piece into the sytsem which could have made it to the radiator. Could it be a center pin from an old thermostat.
Just speculation.

This had me worried, so I pulled the top radiator hose as the first part of the investigation. Center pin of what was left of the thermostat. It had completely rusted off. Reminants were blocking the thermostat housing. Lucky its been very cold here or may have had an overheating prob. Goes to show the value of corrosion inhibitor in your cooling system, which I have just filled the system with.
Thanks for the advice.
