As some of you know, I am going through my buick 350 right now. Before I pulled it, it was running good but using oil a bit and I know it was time for rebuild. Ever since I bought it, I had problems with it running a little bit too hot. I changed the timing chain, water pump, thermostat, new four-core radiator, made sure timing was good and ran good fuel. Drove fine around town but when I drove down the mountain it would ping coming back up the hill. Upon removing the intake manifold I found that there were signs of exhaust leakage from the crossover ports into the valley pan. Do you guys think that maybe this was the problem all along? (The oil pressure was lousy too due to worn timing cover/ oil pump.) I just thought I'd bring this up since it may plague other owners.
