Not much to do now but replace the wire (used a "bolt, 2washers,2wingnut fix" till it broke again). My question is would it be worth trying to use the "HELP!" cable and try and make it work or just pay the stealer price for a new one?
I know most have had this happen, so I thought I would use you guys experiences.
Thanks

I broke my cable shortly after I got my 88. Since then I keep a long thin regular screwdriver in the glove box.. I can poke the lever that releases the hood right thru the grill. Worked with the 88 grill and even better with a Rhino.

Yup
I poke a screw driver at mine too.
Gets back at it for tring to scalp me with that big yellow meat hook. :D
Have you tried looking in the yards for somthing that might work?
Lots of GW's getting parted out on here too. Maybe someone could get one to you.

T-Bone,
Can send lever and cable from 86 GW your way.
Say $10 to your door? Email if you can use it.

You can also go to the local aircraft supply shop or an A&P(mechainic). I work on aircraft and have made several misc. cables. You can even get different ends for different applicationscrimped on the ends.

Arter--You have mail!!
Thanks guys. Yeah I currently employ the "tire iron" as a hood release. The wife has enough to say about my Jeep, without seeing me do this trick :D . As far as parts yards, wags are few and far between in Macon. The ones that are there have broken hood cables.
