I pulled the bellhousing and spacer on my T18, to check the bearings. The spacer had about a gallon of water sitting in it. Just from all the water crossings and such. Anyway, I don't think it can do any damange since it's just a spacer, and not in contact with anything like bearings and such. But was thinking of drilling a small hole directly in the bottom center, just so that stuff will drain. I don't think it would rust but may start to carrode(sp?) the metal Dennis

Wow, that's a new one on me. If water is getting in there(and staying in there), I'd try using some kinda sealant and then check again in a week or two. If you can't figure out why water is getting in there and hanging out, then go ahead and drill some holes. Just my 2 cents, but even though it's just a spacer, I don't think they'd put a cover on it if they wanted water in there.

There is no real way to seal it. It is open inside the bellhousing, so when tranny goes under, it fills up. Figure a small hole can't hunt anything. Dennis

a friend of mine did exactly that. he drilled 2 small drain holes in his spacer. my spacer is different than his,and apparently different than yours as well  as mine is not completely open,it has a tunnel(of sorts) for the inpt shaft to go thru.
go ahead and add some drain holes. it hasnt bothered my friends tranny smile.gif his is from a post 80 j20,just like yours.
