Just say no to Bosch or platinum plugs in old jeeps. New tech and old tech don't mix in this case.
Get a standard set of autolite or champions, and your jeep will thank you.

Have not tried or heard anything about the
performance in the FSJ with bosch plugs.

I have been using NGK V-Groove spark plugs for sometime and have been very happy with there overall performance ;)

I have used the others noted autolite and champion, Also AC splark plugs with good success.

Platnum plugs dont conduct as well, so they require a much higher engergy ignition (which our rigs dont have). The ONLY advantage of a platinum core over copper is longevity. All of the multi tip ones are jokes.

I use Bosch platinum plugs with great results. I also run an MSD 6 offroad ignition and coil with Holley fuel injection.

I used the +4's with great results...I was having fouling problems...these have not fouled yet.I know that there are more pressing isues if I am having fouling problems...but with the Bosch plugs ..they keep me going.

so for me it's simple for me and my truck:
other plugs= fouls , rough idle or no go.
Bosch= no fouls ,smoother idle and go.

i use Bosch plugs and i like them just fine. i run the MSD 6 box, blaster 2 coil, MSD dizzy and 8.8 wires. may just need to update the old to the new.

..
...'over the last 18 years and after trying many types and brands of plugs and having to use two sets per year in my .o3o overbored 401, Bosch Platnum plugs are the BY FAR best in my Wagoneer.

Good Luck.. http://www.boylover.net/ubb/graemlins/cool_shades.gifand CUL.. Don S..

The Reason they require more energy is because they are normally gapped wider, and another advantage of platinum is the smaller electrode which concentrates the spark for a more intense arc from electrode to tip... I run the standard bosch plats gapped to Jeep Spec and have almost 50k miles on them and they look fine(coupla weeks ago I took em out, looked at them and put them right back in...

The whole deal with platinum is long gevity. They will last a long time because plastinum is a very hard metal. But it doesnt conduct anywhere CLOSE to as good as a copper core. Go to the drag strip someday and see what people run. 75% of them will be running standard autolites. Or heck, most any racing series with the exception of the wannabe ricers who just use what the commercials say is best.

I use Bosch too, but the auto repair experts recommend Champion:

I did not mean to start a firestorm on which plug is the best! I took the Bosch back and went with Champion. done!

I just bought some Champion Truck plugs for my freshly rebuilt 401...anyone have anything to say about those? I'll let you know how they run if I ever get the thing together!
