Ok, it ws a vacuum leak!!! There is this hole right behind the carb on the intake. It ws not on my old manifold and i have know idea what goes there 'cause my book doesn't want to talk about it. some hel would be great!!! Once I put my fingure over it, she ran like a champ...almost sucked me into it though ;)

if its on the passengers side behind the carb (i am assuming something like an edelbrock intake) its for the pcv valve.

I wish it was that easy, but nope. It's a stock 4v manifold, and the pcv valve on this is further back. Plus, this port pulls vacuum, (alot) so it's direct. I believe the pcv needs vacuum to pull from your crankcase. Either way, this port is threaded. It almost looks like the old 2v manifold had the mold for this port, but on the 2v it's solid and closed. I know something that needs full time vacuum has to pull off this port but I haven't got a clue. It's 14mm wide so I guess it's a 9\16 or maybe a 5/8 thread if they count the thread depth and is right in front of the three holes that mount the throttle link bracket behind the carb.

Glad I could help :)

If you already have a PCV valve, or don't have a fitting, plumb it to one of the valve covers. A new grommet is about $2. Then plu up the hole in your manifold with a brass plug and thread sealant.

Yeah, thanks Joe!!! It def was a vacuum link. It was a relief to know that my carb is set up right. I don't want to drill a hole into my valve cover though. My pvc port on the back of my manifold seems to be workin well. My problem is, I can't find a home for that mystery vacuum off my manifold right behind the carb.

Now that you say that, I hadn't even thought that both valve covers wouldn't have a hole in them already. Are you sure they don't? Does either one?

This is sad-I own TWO jeeps and don't know if a 360 has hole in the valve cover. (Every Ford and Chevy I have ever worked on did)

No, there are no factory holes in our AMC V-8 rocker covers; everything is through the manifold and oil-fill tube.

Just plug the hole with a brass plug. The manifold probably came off a later model engine with different vacuum needs.DENNIS

****, ya know what? I looked in there but could not find it. I bet it is around somewhere though. Does it have a 5\8 fitting?

HEY! That could be the place where the transfer case, trans modulator, & vacuum canister goes.I forgot about that.Do you already have them hooked up?If you do then see my above post.Come to think of it I bet thats where the brake booster hooks up.And I bet you don't have power brakes yet do you?DENNIS

I was leaning towards it being for a vapor canister. I don't have one but still have the bracket for it. Should I get one? Better/worse performance or MPG? The thing that was getting me was the fact that EVERYTHING from the old 2v mani switched over fine (brake booster too). Everything had it's place. even if I did have ma vapor canister it would have had to go somewhere else cause there be no hole like that one on the 2v. But then this mystery hole turns up 'causing a huge vacuum leak. Thought I put my carb back together wrong or something before I found it. Either way, it's no big deal. Just an extra port if I need one, I'll plug it for now.
Gembox, I still can't find that piece. I keep looking in the box expecting it to apear LOL. I'm not sweating it though. I'm sure I probably lost it in the tansport back here from there...New set up is STRONG though. Pavment testing it today. I'll be in that area soon going to Karova Beach, see if I can't catch me a horse poacher...
