I consider everyone on this Forum a friend... more like a "Family" of sorts and foregive me for using the Tech side of the Boards to post this, but it's the most popular and widely used to get in touch with all of you to share this saddening news...
One of my close friends, and yours too (in my eyes) Bryant- a.k.a. Porkchop, just called me from the hospital. He has suffered a mild heart attack. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/frown.gif It's hard to express my feelings in words, but this hits "home"... Bryant and I are both Marines "Band of Brothers" and we stand up for each other in all situations. I would just like for all of you to maybe post some words to lift his spirits, give words of encouragement... anything at all to let him know you care and hope things work out. I feel it would mean alot to him to see all our posts when he gets out of the hospital....Thanks everybody...
I'll go first....
Bryant, you know that Kimberly and I are ALWAYS there for you, Nichole and the boys... ANYTHING you need you know where I am... Everything is gonna be just fine... Get well soon and you'll be in our prayers and thoughts.
I PROMISE we'll get another trip together so we all can enjoy the fun...together
Todd, Kimberly and the boys...

porkchop,
It bums me to hear of your health problem. I am assuming that you are on your way to a full recovery. I am a respiratory therapist and cardiac patients are what keeps me busy every day. keep your spirits up, its the best thing you can do besides following your docs medication orders. we are all here if you need an ear to talk to. as a marine I know you have the endurance to take on a hell of a lot more than this. I am going to take my rig on a trail this weekend just for you.

Hey PC--we've all got your back! By the way, can I borrow your Jeep?
I'm just kidding...I've got you in my prayers as well as your family, and I hope that everything works out and finds you here with us again soon. Take care of yourself, my friend. We're thinking about you.

All joking aside, I am saddened to hear of your ill health. I wish you a speedy and full recovery. I'm glad to know that not only are you a member of the best fighting force in the world but you are also able to benefit from the best healthcare system as well. Take it slow and easy and never forget that not only do you have your close friends and family praying for you but all of us as well.

Todd,
See if you can dig up a copy of Leon Uris' book "Battle Cry." It's about the Sixth Marines and the invasion of Guadacanal and it's a great read for Bryant if he's able. It's not all hoorah cr*p, either...pretty good stuff about personal loyalty and courage in the face of danger and all that. The writer was in the Sixth for the invasion, so he's writing from experience...

Well I don't really know what to say except thank you. I broke out of the hospital this afternoon and the second thing I did, first was give my boys a huge, was to see if I could get any good advice from the best.
It is hard to believe that this happened to me. I am only 29 years old. They said it was brought on by stress (guess I should stop kicking the jeep). One good thing is that they said that if I had not quit smoking when I did 5 months ago this would have been alot worse. I have learned alot from this I hope some one else will too.

I'm new to the group, but I found everyone friendly from the get-go. FSJ's have to stick together!
Don't worry. My uncle had a heart attack when he was in his very early thirties, and he lived until the age of 79, and he actually died of lung cancer in the end (he was a smoker.) They didn't even have any high-tech drugs back then.
Think of this as a minor setback, like when an FSJ wears out a waterpump http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif You'll get yourself back in shape in no time.

God's little wakeup call to remind you he's there, I guess. I'm glad you're out--just remember to take it easy for the next couple of months and you'll be out cussing at your Jeep with the rest of us in no time. You know how to find me if you need *anything.*

It's good to hear you're doing better PorkChop. I generally enjoy your posts. BTW, there is no age to young for a heart attack. You are about the 5th person I've heard of under 30 to have one. A friend of mine drove himself to the hospital last year to find out he needed a 5 bypass thingamabobby that instant.
Stick with the doc's orders and keep us posted! We're all rootin for ya.
