I have this "opportunity truck" calling my name all the way up in Northern North Carolina...a '77 Honcho. Does anybody have the specs for such a beast, so I know what I'm looking at? What engine (360?) and tranny? What t-case? Is this thing built on same chassis as the Wag? Some of the pictures I have found online make it look like a wider track than the wag. Any info would be helpful.

Thanks,
CR (Blake's dad)

Here is a Site with all the possible specs you could have.

As far as I know, all of the J-trucks did have a wider rear track than wags and chero's. But the model 17 or "wide Track" models of wagons had an inch or two on the trucks. Someone else should be able to give more details on this or maybe check the archives for more info.

J Trucks are the widest of all FSJ's

Hey, trickc!

I thought his post might get your attention! Yup, I'm sick alright, but I had a 26-year marriage balanced on one shoulder and the '77 Honcho on the other---marriage won out! Went to look at the Honcho this morning. It has the typcal rusted out bed and wwheel wells, along with surface rust on roof and hood. Some goober replaced the original seat with one from an S-10---only about 6 inches short! 360 motor had top end knock that subsided after warmup (lifter), and tranny is not long for this world. Doors straight, fenders straight, tailgate fair. Dana axles and BG QT xfer. Here's the good news: front chrome bumper looked great (only one small dent), grill intact and perfect, headliner great, and all guages and glovebox mounted shift knob intact. The guy is selling it for his divorced daughter--my guess is that former son-in-law got bit by the FSJ bug and just didn't know our big ole support group to help him through his addiction! I kept his name and number with directions to way north North Carolina, so if anybody wants the contact info, lemme know. He's asking $975, and I could only get him down to $800---and if I coudn't do better than that, I either hit him on a bad day or that's the bottom dollar! The hunt was fun anyway! CR and Blake
