Hi - I have a 1988 Grand Wagoneer with 140,000 miles. The passenger side vent window is beginning to rust around the glass, as well as the post that it pivots on at the bottom of the window. When you open the vent window, it will not stay in place like the driver's side will. Is the post that the vent window pivots on (bottom of window) made into the vent window frame or is it part of the door assembly? I am concerned that this post is going to break and then the window will be hanging by the top mount only. I have called J&W Auto wreckers in California and they will sell me a used vent window for $50. How difficult is it to change out the vent window? Is there anything that I need to be aware of? Thanks!

You have to remove the sliding window glass and regulator to pull the vent window assembly. It's a good idea to change the seals while you're there, and clean and lube the window track as well since it's out of the door. Since the door is pretty much empty by the time you get it apart, it's a perfect time for sound proofing too, if you care for it. I think there's a write-up in the tech dept on it that is pretty good. That vent window is one complete assemby, including the top and bottom pivots and the forward sliding window track and seal.
