I have an 87 Grand Wagoneer that I would like to lift. I've seen some other members' that are lifted 3"-4", and I think that this would be sufficient for my needs. Anyway, would blocks be enough, or do I need one of the expensive kits with the shocks, leaf springs, control arms, etc.?

well on a wag, there are no control arms. these are found on vehicles with IFS or coil suspension.
You can get a full 4 spring kit with shocks and brake lines for about 500 bucks from www.bjsoffroad.com (http://www.bjsoffroad.com)
there is also www.rustysoffroad.com (http://www.rustysoffroad.com) and www.skyjacker.com (http://www.skyjacker.com)
Skyjacker is more expensive, but very nice kit.

Woops....the ignorance ran rampant there didn't it? Guess I never paid attetion to what I wrote. What about driveline angle? Is there any issues with a 3" lift?

Not much to worry about with a 3" suspension lift. I've had 3" suspension lifts on both of my Wags with no problems with driveline angles.

3-4" is fine. 6" is where you hit problems on some years.

Thanks for the info guys, greatly appreciated. It will be about a month before I can get the lift done, but I'll be sure to post some pics when it's done

I have decided on the 4" lift. Here is another question for you guys. What about doing a 4" lift with a SOA? Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure that I do this right, and not end up with something that is unsafe.
4" + the SOA will net you someplace around 10-12" of lift.
There will be other mods invloved at that point, steering, driveshafts, etc.
Not to mention you will need some nice sized tires to fill up the wheel wells, which leads to axle strength concerns.
If you have the ability/tools to go SOA I would forgo the 4" springs.
