What's the vac hose coming out the front axle for?

In my 89, the vac hose comin out the front axle is loose and I have no idea where it goes. This is now my parts rig so I don't need to hook it up. I'm sure my 87 has the same hose but I'm at work and I was thinking about it. I read something about the selectrac having a vac hose going to the axle. Is this it.

That's a vent hose not a vac hose. Should be routed high in the eng bay to keep water out. Yours prolly mounts to the upper end of the radiator support.

AAAHHH. A vent hose. But what about what I read about the selectrac? Is it hooked into the front axle?

Only on the 84-85, then AMC realized it was a dog!

Actually only the 83/84 229 equipped ran the vac disco front axle. No harm...no foul. ;)
