Hi all,
My hood latch cable broke yesterday. The cable broke right at the point where it connects to the handle next to the emergency brake pedal. Any suggestions on a fix? Can I re-attach it to the handle somehow or do I need to run a whole new assembly/cable? If so, do I have to go through the dealer or would an auto parts store have a generic that will work? Luckily, I changed my oil and checked the other fluids last week. Thanks in advance.

a long skinny screwdriver will operate the latch from the front. im afraid that you may have to try the dealer to get a new assembly or your local pick a part.

do you have room for a small pair of vice grips?
i've done this on several other vehicles.

Mine broke last year at the same place. I went to Autozone and bought a general repair kit with a new cable for like ten bucks. It took about ten minutes to change. You should find the kit in the misc. Help section, you know the section with all the little doo dad stuff and odds and ends.

i would stick with getting a new one cause i know i would be to lazy to go to a junk yard and rip one out of a doner lol

you could just pull the cable out and rig it up as an external hood pop, i have dont this quit a few times, most of the time its real simple to do
