HEI ignition in 258

Is it just a mater of switching the gear on the new distributor with the one from the old distributor? I have the HEI distributor, new cap, rotor, coil, and plug wires on order and should be here Monday.

Any one else done this before?
Any help would be great!
What do I set the timing to?
Will the advance curves be right?

did this swap on a 82 AMC Concord w/ 258. it was extremely straight forward. just pulled the old one and dropped the new one in. we set the timing etc., to stock and adjusted as we saw fit (not much if recall correctly). what a difference.
