I suppose this is a no brainer but after about an hour of google searches no one comes out and says it. Is the bellhousing pattern on a 4.2 the same as a 4.0? I It looks like I am getting an AX-15 out of 2002 wrangler from an inside source at Chrysler. I am getting it cheap and want to put it in my 76 Chero. I found the adapter for a D-300. Is a D-300 a direct swap for a QT? I am getting just the trans, nothing else. Any help is much appreciated.

Yes, the 4.2 and 4.0 have the same bellhousing bolt pattern. So do the AMC V8s. My AX-15 was behind the 258, now it's behind a 360.

Can't help with the xfer case question, sorry.

Al what clutch setup are you running Hyd or mech? Any ops on either?
