For you guys still running the Tornado in your rig. What size thermostat are you currently running? I put a 190 in mine and am having trouble with it running hot. I had no trouble with the old one but since it wass stuck wide open it never got warm enough. So I know the radiator is not plugged up. I am just wondering if I go back to a 180 if this will help solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

I believe all cars of that vintage ran 160 or 180. The 195 arrived when smog standards in the 70s forced operating temperatures higher.

How is your timing?

It had the original 13lbs cap on it but I just put a new 7lbs on it lust the other day. As far as my timing goes it seems to be good. Starts right up. Of course there is no timing marks so it is timed by ear. Do you think running a colder thermostat would do the trick? Thanks for the input guys.

I have a 180 and my temp stays around 180-200, no matter what season. Hard runs in the hot summer may push it to 210 and that's the highest I've seen it go.

Thanks for the info chrisnsarah. Is that T98 a floored shifted 4-speed?

Update: Put on a new 13lbs cap and have not had any problems since. Thanks for the advice guys.
