I own a 1984 Grand Wagoneer. The running gear and body are in good shape, but the interior is rough. I have found a 1989 Grand Wagoneer that I can remove the interior from. Will everything swap over or is there somethings that will not match. I want to move everything -seats,carpet,dashboard,headliner. What kind of problems will I run into because of the age difference of the Jeeps. Thanks for the help.

hmmmm...does the 89 have the overhead console? or did that come out the next year... anywho, I can't think of anything other than that but there are guys here MUCH more knowledgable... But I'm sure the basics like seats, carpet, really most everything will fit like a charm... :D

The only thing that's different as far as I can tell (I was pondering the same change @ one time) is the instrument cluster. It looked to me like everything else was the same. Good luck!
You should be ok on most all of it..other than the dash (which I don't know anything about) and the overhead console(You will have to find a wiring diagram..I need one as well so I can hook mine up)

Or would it be easier to just swap bodies? Will the mounts be the same? How much will it weigh?

You can swap almost everything. The electrical stuff won't swap, but you can still swap dashpads. Leave the gauges and steering column. I don't think the steering wheel will swap, either.

You might want to pull the wiring harness too.Like jeepguzzi said it's different.Chrysler changed the harness in '89(there's a recent post on here about this).By doing this you have your connection points for the overhead console.Another thing there's a post about adding a rear wiper to a pre '89.This would be a good time to do this if the tailgate on the '89 is in good shape.
