Can I take some material and make me a couple of new bushings for the springs? What material should I use, rubber or poly?

I made some bushings for the front shackles on my 79 out of Delrin. According to the plastic supplier Delrin is self lubricating. I spent more time getting the original sleeves out of the spring eyes than I did making the bushings, taking the shackles off...hell, include the 20 mile trip to go buy the plastic :D

They worked great, squeaked a little when wet but it wasn't bad.

I used UHMW for bushings in the front of my racecar and they work great. Delrin is fairly spendy, especially if you get the Teflon empregnated stuff. UHMW is self lubricating too, and it cuts like "buttah" on a lathe....
