Well got the tranny pan down looked inside it there were metal shavings in there, and by the magnet there was a bunch of black goop. I cleaned it all out the put a new filter in but is it POSSIBLE that my tranny will be Ok? Or should i start looking for another 727 now?

That is how mine looked and I think if you ask around most people will have the same. If it was only flakes and no large chunks I would not worry about it. The clutch plates are what is making the flakes, depending on the miles I would drive it until you have no doubt that it is time to change it.

Thanx Shadow i have been depressed about getting a new tranny all day. that makes me feel a bit better. but now i have no excuse to get the parts truck with the 401. atleast if my tranny was going i would have something to tell my dad so i could park it in the carport. oh well i am sure i can find another reason.

Took mine in a couple weeks ago and found the same thing.

When I asked the same question on the forum I was basically told to run it.

For the amount of miles mine has on it and the amount of shavings that were found, I didn't think I was in bad shape... but everyone here made it official.
