as seen in the above link, a TBI is carried as an upgrade for the AMC blocks. IS this the best Fuel Injection Upgrade Available for the 360 and others? Is it worth it? Have you done this? Give me some feedback people. Do they make a MPFI or SEFI set up for the AMC blocks. Or is my best bet an upgraded/rebuilt carb set up. I want to improve Milage a little as well as limit the stalls. THX!

"limit the stalls" that would be prevented by pulling off the intake manifold, correcting all the vacuum leaks, and rebuilding the carb. as far as improving the MPG, the TBI would help, MPFI or SEFI would probably help even more for power but not so much MPG, but you won't be dealing with 20+ mpg no matter what... a good SEFI conversion kit for a V8 last I heard was in the 3-4G range, and I doubt they make one for the 360. if you want affordable SEFI injection and stellar gas mileage, sell your Wagoner ;) then go buy a 1994+ GM car with the 3100 engine or an old 4 cyl car :D I think the better option is to rebuild a good 4bbl, put quality manifold on it then you should be in good shape. you seem to want to put this modern technology on an old as **** engine... sorry if I just don't see the point. sure it would be cool but it would cost big bucks to do, and for 1/2 the price and 1/4 the trouble of TBI you could drop a 4bbl on. forget about getting good MPG in a Wagoner... the sheer mass of the car makes that next to impossible if you want it to have any sort of pick up.

FI is great. My brother has just installed tpiguy's TBI on his newly-rebuilt 360. I'd say it's worth it, and we haven't even gotten it running right, yet. Latest problem was a blocked breather cap that made the front intake-to-block seal push out. Didn't run well with vacuum problems.

But when it was running right, it was great. Smooth & strong. Started like a dream.

It took a couple of chips to get that right, but I'm impressed so far.

I'm putting a Chevy TPI intake on my 360 with an Electromotive computer. I'm a ways from getting it running, but it's coming.

on a good, tight engine, TBI will improve mileage. Port Injection will improve it more(~10% over TBI) see www.customefis.com (http://www.customefis.com) for the best kit price on either.

i have met TPIGuy in person and can tell you he is a stand up guy. no BS.

i have his port kit for the AMC V8 and am in the process(slowly due to time constraints) of installing it on my 360. The kit is quality built and very professional looking.

Will let you know how well it works in a few weeks.

oh, and for $400 more than howells TBI kit you can have the Port Fuel Injection kit.

not a bad deal...

Elves.

AMC & Chevy ports line up. It takes a wedge-shaped adapter plate on each side and some filling-in of the gap at the front and rear to fit a Chevy intake to an AMC block.

Herman Lewis is the man here. He did the machine work. Do a search on this site to find his name & address as I've posted it before and don't have it with me at the moment.
