125000 MILES...AND NO RIDGE ON ANY CYL IN #2 #4 OR #6....I STILL HAVE TO PULL THE HEAD ON #1,3,AND 5...I WOULD POST THIS ON MY 3.4 DOHC LIST ...BUT ALL THEY TALK ABOUT IS PUTTING NEON LIGHTS UNDER THE DASH OR FRONT SEATS...AND STREET RACING..135 MPH....RIGHT!!!!!!....ME!!!! :eek: :rolleyes:

SORRY...64.....I'M TALKING ABOUT THE 3.4 IN MY, 91 OLDS CUTLASS... ...GSMIKIE...I'M TALKING ABOUT THE RIDGE THAT YOU GET INSIDE THE CYL FROM RING WEAR****....ME!!!!! :eek:

What you are seeing is the wonders of an excellant engine management system. The General does not get a whole lot right but their engine management systems are some of the best and the lack of engine wear shows it. By managing fuel and timing there is not the excessive heat, ping, or cylinder washdown that will wear a motor faster. Oil tech has also improved to the point where 200,000 mile gas engines are now the norm.

yup, a few years ago a buddy of mine replaced the head gaskets on his 350 sbc. at 180k, the cross hatches in the bores were still there.the guys on the bmw board say the same thing. Gary, why are you tearing apart this v-6?

a valve seat? cryco had a problem with that in the caravans iirc. before that ive never heard of this.is the head toast? piston? bore?

WHEN I GOT THE CAR I NOTICE THE TOP RAD HOSE WAS NEW AND BROWN CRAP ON THE SIDE OF THE WHEEL HOUSE... SO IT MUST HAVE RAN HOT SOMETIME.......ANYWAY 210.00 FOR EACH HEAD ....BEST TO REPLACE THE OTHER ONE TOO............... .......ME!!! :eek: :eek: PS THE CYL IS OK......THE PISTION HAS SOME NICKS IN IT.....ALL 3CYL HAD WATER IN THEM....
