View Full Version : Cost analysis to fit 35s on a WT

Ok goal is to build a capable WT for wheeling. I would like to fit some 35s without rubbing and have great articulation. I'am seriously considering the SOA, but see that some are running 35s with 4"spring and maybe the need for a minor bodylift.

Cost comparison:

SOA----------------------Spring & Possibly Body

Perches = $-----------------Skyjacker = $1100
Brake lines = $-------------Body Lift = $100
Shocks = $------------------
Drop Pit = $----------------
Shims ?? = $----------------
Hi Steering ??? =$----------
Todd's shackle kit =$-------
U-bolts = $-----------------
driveshaft work ? =$--------

maybe new springs if
mine are shot or go bad
from wheeling = $--------

Total = -------- $$$$ ----- against ----- $1200

I know this has been hashed to death, but I couldn't find a cost comparison. Would stock springs articulate better than 4" lift springs?

Thanks,

P.J.

Perches = $-----------------50
Brake lines = $-------------20 each front, spacer rear=40
Shocks = $------------------This is up to you
Drop Pit = $----------------50
Shims ?? = $----------------4degree rear (not sure?)
Hi Steering ??? =$----------* depends!
Todd's shackle kit =$-------155
U-bolts = $-----------------40
driveshaft work ? =$--------Guess you will know when you get there, others can provide input but it's best to check, angles, lengths, etc when the suspension lift is done.

* If you find bumpsteer is bad enough to warrant hysteer, there are several options, do you want to raise all linkage or just the drag link.
1. Just the drag link raised is about 200 for the flatop knuckle, studs and arm and 80 for the drag link to run from the pitman arm to the high steering arm (used to go directly to the tie rod). This is River Beasts set up.
2. Both tie rod and drag link raised above the springs. This is basically the cost of the raised drag link plus the drivers side knuckle so add another 200.

So either 315 or 800 w/o shocks...
But a SOA is all custom and based on preference so you can't really put it in a box like a lift kit. Though this is a rough estimate and what I plan to do.

Edit: the numbers I gave for hysteer were off the top of my head. Part Mike has a site to better give you an idea how much the arms and hardware are. http://www.partsmikeparts.com/arms.htm

I can't help much on the cost analysis but I can offer this. I have the 4" Skyjacker softride with my 35's and I got pretty serious rub at full articulation. I added a 3" body lift and the rubbing has pretty much gone away. The Skyjacker lift is very flexy and I get great articulation so I bet anything stiffer might not articulate as much?? I will say that most people on the trail are absolutely amazed at how capable my ride is! Even before the rear locker.
Hope this helps a little.
