My neighbor, who helps me with my FSJ mods, had a suggestion that he thinks would make the front revolver shackle operate better. He's not a FSJ mechanic or fanatic, nor is he a fulltime mechanic. He feels that the revolvers would be better suited installed on the back of the leaf spring. He thinks the only problem would be the driveshaft. It has to be long enough to move with the revolvers. I'm having a custom shaft built anyway! Other than that he says the rear of spring shackle install would be better for control and general operation. He's done a good job on all of the work he's done. I'm not even close to being a mechanic myself, so I need input! What are the pros and cons on either way of installation?

What he is suggesting is a shackle reversal

I say leave it the way it is.... Jeep made them this way for a resaon...

Your tires have and 'inchworm' affect on obstacles.. your front is actually forced into and over an object...where with the reversal, the object is absorbed....

Yeah.. it may give a better quality ride on the road, but no better performance off road if not worse.... IMO

I agree with Todd 100%. I belive your talking apple and oranges as far as performance of the revolvers.
