man does that thing stink. at the dallas elevation what have you guys done to lean this thing out. i slapped the same carb on my blazer and it was great.

the jeep though was a different story, i don't have the air pump on it so i am at a dissadvantage already and to boot i got a non-egr edel brock intake. i am lowering the float abit this week-end to see if that helps out some. has anyone used that kit for jetting and needle springs? and this carb is not for extreme angles for long periods of time.

Had a kewl article in Peterson's 4wheeldrive a few months ago comparing carbs. They found the same probs that you did. A lot of ppl in here have put the offroad jets in em after they got theres. I have a 1405 with my egr blocked off. It was running rich on me and I put a bigger open air filter on it and it seems to have helped it alot. If i can dig out that mag it says what you can do to make it a lil better. Lowering the float will help it.

I havent had any problems with mine. I live in the mountains near yosemite national park in california, very steep terrain here...several people I know with this carb dont have any probs. I havent lowered my floats or anything. Just had to lean it out do to the altitudde here.

non-EGR intake BTW

i have that petersons 4 wheel off road issue and they raved about the edel brock q-jet replacement but the other three were left as needed to be tweeked alittle. thanks for the input. yeah i put an open element k&n on mine so that helped a bunch. didn't get to tweek the floats this weekend but will get to it asap. thanks again

Hey Jim!! you have to lean the 1406 out pretty good here in the big D, for sure. You in town? If so, there's a get together in Sept. on the 15/16th in Tyler.

I have the same carb and it's a pig in altitude. Where can I get, and what are the parts I need to lean this out a bit.
