is a willys pickup bed the same as a thriftside for a j-truck?
I've seen one on an early J truck years ago, not sure if it was original.

Willy's were pretty narrow compared to a J Truck. I think its to narrow. Well I guess anything is possible.

Go rent "Tremors" and have a look at the Gladiator style. I would think it is very close to being the same but the width may be different.
Pete's probably right, it did have the same style fenders and the cover plates for the frame rails. It was on an old Gladiator with the 327 if I remember right.
Steve and Rob at Willys Works here (probably the best in the West) used to tell me if I wanted to replace the Timken 53 in the rear I would want the Dana 44 from a 63-65 Gladiator. Didn't do it, just put a Danna 44 from a International SWB under there and it was like 1" wider, C to C.
The rear axle track width and the wheelbase length of the Willys is almost identical to the J-200/2000's. The J-300/3000/4000/10/20's all have longer wheelbases.
