2ND gear MIA

My 2nd gear is MIA. All the other gears work fine, with no funny noises coming from the trans.
If I go through the gears manually and shift into second, it seems like it stays in 1st. In "D" it shifts straight from 1st to 3rd.
I've checked the linkage, dropped the pan (no chunkage) and fluid looked good.
I was thinking maybe the valve body is stuck.
Any ideas? Thanks.

mine does the same thing except if I shift manually it works, I hope someone can help us

my buddy at Kennedy Transmission says it's the band for second. does this ring true with anyone?

I beleive that is probably the case with mine. I tried to adjust the band and the adjuster bottomed out. So either the band is shot or it somehow came loose either at the adjuster or what ever it connects to on the other side. I'll find out when I rebuild it and let you know.

As soon as I get my lift on the trans is next. Waiting for the lift because I pulled the trans out before (torque converter input shaft grenaded) and having some more room to work underneath will help my attitude a bunch.
