I know this is an overly simple kind of question, but I lost my instructions for my Edelbrock 1406 carb and need to locate the idle screw.
The '88 GW idles way to fast, and I want to try the simplest remedies first. Thanks.

I will try to explain where it is. If you are looking at the carb from the front, it will be on the right hand side. It is parrallel to the manifold. The screw head faces the front. You can use a 1/4 inch socket on the head as well.

Does this help?

have your wife, girlfriend, significant other move the gas pedal in the truck, while you watch from the engine compartment. The idle adjust is on the part that moves, and is the only screw on it. engine doesn't have to be running at the time, but since you are going to adjust the idle anyway....

good luck, and let us know!

Porkchop, Lindel,

Thanks a bunch for the info. Seems pretty much clear cut. It's raining cats and dogs now, but as soon as it lets up, I'll locate it and see if that's what's causing the spooky fast idle.
Also just bought a new oil pressure sending unit. The '88 GW reads 60psi as soon as the key is turned.... I hope she's still running per spec (just replaced the timingchain cover on my '82... I'd hate to repeat that).

Again, thanks!
