a week or so ago, I posted a thread about the (727) tranny slipping into passing gear at low speeds. I was pointed to the article on adjusting the TV linkage. Okay, I've done that (5 or 6 times actually) and here's what happens now:
Start off in low gear and changes to 2nd gear with no problem. Then around 45 mph, when it should be changing to 3rd gear, it slips outta gear. Sometimes giving it a substantioal amount of gas will cause it to change back into "passing gear" (2nd), but never causes it to change to the proper higher gear (3rd).
I guess my question has more than one part to it: (1) Is "passing gear" when the throtle valve rod is ALL THE WAY forward? (2) Is the TV rod supposes to move throughout the movement of the throttle rod itself or just at wider-open throttle (read - higher speeds)? (3) Would a "stuck" TV cause this? (4) Would a complete tranny fluid/filter flush and change fix it if it's NOT the TV? (goodness knows when the last time it was changed) and (5) is the transmission giving up its last breath?
I know thats a lot to answer, but maybe someone can help me...
THANKS!!
