Guys, I have the stock piece-o-crap fiberglass heater box in my engine compartment. Of course, it has a huge hole where the manifold bopped it during the engine R&R. In addition, other parts have broken off of it, and it needs to be replaced. My question is this:
Can a metal heater box from a late 60's / early 70's bolt right up to the same holes, and be able to utilize the stock 84' heater core, etc.?
I think so Ryan, maybe the core might need a bit of creative mounting inside the box. I think RamJet FSJ switched to an older one, at least I remember talking to him about it.
I took mine off to clean it out while the engine was out and there was no AC in the way back then, looks sort of hard to get to now, good luck.

I bought a "all in one" aftermarket unit and moved the whole A/C and Heater unit inside my truck, under the dash. It works great and opened up a lot of space on the passenger side fire wall.

Gee, Ryan would you happen to be in need of a heater box from say a 71 waggy? I'll look and see if the one I have is servicable, if so I'll bring it to the wot unless you happen to already have one laying about.

On mine the heater box also was crushed I was able to replace it with a metal one, and it fit with no problem. This is on a 1978.
