Need your advise - bought a '78 Chief with a 360 cid that is in bad shape. Had a Motorcraft 21xx on it, but that manifold was cracked. Got a new 4bbl manifold from the junkyard with a MC 4350 on it. Comparing the pics in the Haynes manual, it appears my junkyard carb is missing the choke pull-down motor and the throttle positioner solenoid. Question is does anyone know whether these two parts were on the factory 360cis w/ 4350 or not? Do I need to add them when I rebiuld the thing? Thanks for your reply!

the 4350 sittin in my dinning room has both items. 4350 and manifold came from a 78 chero.
hope that helps

I JUST rebuild my 4350 in the living room two nights ago, and it has neither. My choke has a heat riser tube which connects to the intake manifold, ano no throttle position sensor. But, my carb does not have the altitude compensating thingamajiggy, either.

The Choke pull-off is about $12.50 from Autozone. You will need it if you ever want to get the car to start easily. The throttle solenoid accomplishes little and is best removed.

I take it rebuilt kits are readily available for the 4350 then? I can't find the ID tag on mine, will that present a problem when I ask for the rebuild kit, or does someone have a number I could use?
Thanks
Aaron

Thanks for the help - for twelve bucks, I'll try the choke pull-off and see what happens. Is rebuilding the carb hard? It seems getting it cleaned out would be the challenge. I was told by the local parts house that there's one rebuild kit that covers all 4350 versions.....mine does not have the tag either, and I could not find anything but an 'A' stamped on the outside.
