Hi there I am swapping out my 272's for 354's in the dana 44 front diff.My problem is that the inside diameter of the 354's is too small to fit down over the carrier to bolt it on!The inside diameter is roughy 4 3/4" and the old 272's is roughy 5 1/2" do I need another carrier please help jeep is apart, anxious to get together!I had to get a different carrier for the rear amc 20.
You "sure" those gears are for a D44 and not a D30?

I believe you might be right the pinion looks nothing like the pinion from the 272's.A bolt screws into end of pinion shaft on the 354's I was given. The pinion nut goes on the shaft of the 272 pinion. The only markings on the 354's are
owf on the pinion and pao on the ring gear.
