View Full Version : Rain shield ignorance

Ok..I've maintained for awhile that my rain shield in my door is set up correctly, but now I'm thinking I was wrong. Is the rain shield that is tucked into the louvers inside the door a paper-thin, clear sheet?
I saw no evidence of any work being done on the doors, but I was looking, and on all 4 doors, there is just a little bit of this clear, reeeally thin, brittle stuff poking out all around..even on the bottom, stuck on with adhesive.
Is that the rain shield, or is there something else behind that? I haven't pulled the panel because I don't have a trim removal tool and I didn't want to screw anything else up that's working "ok" for now.

"Thin, brittle stuff" sounds like plastic sheeting that's succumbing (I own the big word store! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif) to years of hot/cold weather cycles. "Poking out all around...even on the bottom" sounds like a PO (or his "mechanic") was fooling with things he didn't understand. Time to bite the bullet, get some plastic sheeting & RTV silicone adhesive, and do it right--your floorpans will thank you!
