I am going to have a new set of front and rear springs made up with a 2" overstock for my '87. "ESPO Springs 'n Things" in Danville, Pa. will be making them up. New rubber bushings, bolts, etc. and I will re-use the existing shackles.
Question:
Do I need to make any alterations to the drive line, etc..
I think not but I wanted to get the opinions of the lift experts ! smile.gif
Thanks,

Everything should go O.K. with 2" lift. The only thing you may have trouble with are the track bars. If the front cardan joint is worn any, pull it and rebuild it. The angle change will make it go out quick.

With only 2" spring lift you should be OK. May I ask, how much for the springs? I am thinking of going the same route. Please keep us informed as to how they work out...

OK I understand the cardan joint but fill me in on the possible track bar problem ?

With new rubber bushings, rods, and U-bolts:
Front: $ 228.00/pr.
Rear: $ 258.00/pr.
I will also need to put new 2'' overstock shocks on .
Anyone have a preference ? I want a good riding, decent handling shock.
Heckethorn, Rancho, Koni ?

For the price my opinion is the Rancho 5000.

I just emailed them yesterday about getting a full set of 2" springs made for my Chief. I have not heard back about the price, so thanks for the post. Let us know how it rides and if it truely bolts on like they promise.

Woodybeone, VERY interested to know how this project develops! Some posters have spoken highly of edelbrock IAS shocks( check out their website). They seem very expensive to me, but if you get what you pay for... I'm looking for a little height,(without major alterations), AND a soft ride. Please keep us informed. smile.gif

Well just finished my 2"overstock lift and put on new shocks.
I was going to get new springs front and rear but I talked to a local spring shop and they rebuilt the springs, added a new leaf in the middle of the pack, new bushings and bolts. Charged me $200.00.
I ordered a set of Edelbrock shocks from Autozone ($79.00 each including shipping) and had them in 2 days. Just put them on tonight and took it for a test drive.
Well if what they say is true and the shocks will break in after a couple hundred miles , then I'm in for a treat as they ride great right now ! :D The wandering is gone, no nose dive on braking, better handling, soaks up bumps and holes .
I would recommend these to anyone if your budget allows.

Thanks for the update. Did you have any problems with the fit of the new springs? Were you able to pick the springs up in person? What model number were the shocks? Sorry of all of the questions, but I am about to go through the same process.

Wait, that was $486 for 2" lift springs and hardware? Wouldn't it be just as easy to buy the Rough Country 3" lift for $575 and get an extra inch plus shocks? I'm in the market for new springs too, so I'm trying to get good knowledge of all the springs available.

I really don't need much height as I am only trying to clear 31's and I want to tow my TJ on a trailer with this rig. I have heard that the Rough Country rides pretty stiff.

I did not get the new springs ,I found a spring shop that gave me the same lift using my springs. I ended up paying $520.00 for everything.
$200.00 for the spring shop work and $320 for the Edelbrock shocks.
