Hi Guys,
I'm looking for Hi-Back bucket seats to replace the old seats in my J10. Does anyone know what seat out of what vehicle make and model would be a good replacement with little or no modifications?
I thought about seats from a GW. But, most of those I see out there are just as ratty as mine.

Hey Mike,
I am in the same predicament as you are. My rig came with crappy Mustang II seats and I am looking for either a replacement bench or easy to install buckets.
I am leaning towards a bench seat (I have 2 kids) from a 70's Chevy or Ford truck, as the length should be comparable. Jeeps are few and far between around here, so another make is the best option.
I have looked into buckets of various makes, and found a real nice set from a Volvo car (leather, heated, lumbar support) that looks easy enough to swap in, but the dolt who owns them wants $150! Maybe if they made my coffee in the morning also!
If you find an easy swap, make sure you post a thread here. I will do the same!
Thanks and good luck,

I priced getting my J10 buckets seats reupholstered and the shop wanted between $250-$300 per seat. I was thinking that seats out of a Dodge Dakota might fit but going to a high-back seat would end up limiting the leg room because the high-back seat won't be able to go back as far. My other J10 truck has the bench seat which I prefer because of the kids but it too is in need of repair. As such I am also very interested in finding good replacement seats for our J10 trucks
Thanks,
Rich

Thanks for your replies.
Sam, I don't know if my seats are original or not. They are low back buckets witha pad in between and an armrest that swings up to seat a third person. I know they were used allot in the Wagoneer and Cherokee.
Rich, In St. Charles? Small world. I know standard FSJ buckets don't recline. However, finding seats that do recline would also mean that they can be adjusted to sit nearly straight up as well. Then, I could retain my leg room.

Mercury Mountaineer seats are supposed to fit in the FS Cherokee, they're leather and may have lumbar? Worth checkin' out.

El,
Wouldn't the Mercury Mountaineer be the same thing as a Ford Explorer? I'm wondering if Explorer seats would fit as well? I'll have to look into that.

I haven't seem 'em, but I think the Mercury seats were the same... only nicer, the Explorer seats will be easier to find.
Let me know if they do work out, I might change my plans.
I've got some low back, forward tilting FS Cherokee seats for my truck and thought about using high back seats. If your legs are long you may find that a high back seat will need to have the back all the way in the straight up position (as opposed to reclined at all) in order to not hit the back of the cab.
