Well apparently the knocking I was hearing was worse than I imagined. The motor all but ground to a halt yesterday extreme clunking & grinding noises and barely running. I think I need a new motor.

Are there any Denver-area Jeepers out there that can recommend a trustworthy rebuild/replace shop?

Thanks,

Kimbrough

Go to www.cfsja.org (http://www.cfsja.org) They are the Colorado incarnation and general Masters of the FSJ Universe.
Maybe they can help. smile.gif

New set of tools and a good chunk of pavement - works fer me and is a heck of a lot cheaper too. I hired some one to do a head gasket in my Ford - three weeks later the bill came to 1200$ for parts and labor. I coulda done it myself for half that in two weeks time!
don't be afraid - use the force! (and rent a good engine hoist!)

Bnscott2.. I happen to have a Uncle who owns Western Engine Supply there in Denver :D 750 E. 71st Ave. (800)783-1949 (303)286-1903. I called recently to price my 360.. I believe they wanted $1100.00 for a long block wiht a $50.00 core.. I have purchased a C***y 350 a few years back from him and it was a great motor.. They put 3 angle valves in all their blocks, along with all new valve train.. new guides NOT knurled.. Hope this helps...

I live in Denver, and Western is a great reccomendation and 1100 is a great LB price for a quality unit in my opinion.

Plus, did'ny 78 wag mention something about a IFSJA discount price?? ;)

Ernzo.. I will call next week and see what I can arrange..I do remember the guy I talked to (not my uncle) saying he would sell it to me for something like $1050.00 after I mentioned that there original price was cheaper than here in CA... I'll see what I can do for my fellow FSJ'rs :D :D
