I've torn my engine down to the crank and cam... are the timing sprockets press fit and require a puller? they wont budge, wanted to ask before I started prying on it ...

Nope, start prying. A rubber mallet works good.

Here's what the TSM says: "Rotate crankshaft until the zero timing mark on the crankshaft sprocket is closest to and in a centerline with the zero timing mark on the camshaft sprocket. Remove crankshaft sprocket, camshaft sprocket and timing chain as an assembly." The chain should be so lose that the sprockets come right off.

It really was not that bad, because I had another Engine sitting their in the yard and just took another one off of it.

When I did my 76's timing chain two years ago, some of the gear teeth on the camshaft sprocket still had the brown nylon or plastic coating. The rest is probably sitting in the oil pan. I guess they stopped using the nylon in the 80's.
