Ok guys....I am sick and tired of this 229 vacuum crap.
I will be shopping around for a 208.
Does anyone know how much a rebuilt would cost??
Or maybe even a new one.
Or perhaps if I pull one out of the junk yard, how much would it cost to rebuid it.
I need to know because i have to budget for it.

well....i'm not too sure, but i would not pay more than $50 for one at a junkyard. depends on what is available. I think new would be overkill(as well as expensive), and rebuilt will be pricey too.

Hope this helps a little.

i wish we had your junkyards round here smile.gif 4wd stuff, specially jeeps are not common in local recycling yards here. id hafta pay $250 on up for an xcase from a junkyard here in ohio. keep your eyes on local trading post type sales papers, and the for sale sections of this and similar pages. $50 will be a great deal,id expect to find one somewhere between that number and the 250 number ;)

good luck smile.gif

Here in FL I can pick up transmissions, x-cases, and most axles for $150 each.

You might want to find out what shipping would be from someplace much cheaper. If you can get an x-case for $50, and it costs $50 to ship it, you might come out ahead of what you'd pay locally. Now where were those links to the big Jeep Junkyards?

Thanks you guys..
I called a local yard and they said it was 80 bucks for a transfer case. But no garantee that it works.
Oh well. I guess i will just have to cross my fingers

The bearings hardly ever go out in the NP208 and most overhauls consist of a chain, seals, and the stupid plastic pads that go on the shifter fork.
A little more than $100 and you do not have to worry about it.

Try this place. They have pretty good prices. $225 for a whole rebuilt t-case.

That is for a REBUILD KIT, not a rebuilt T-Case
