How hard is it to replace the face/header panel? I have found out the one on my 80 J-10 had been replaced with one off of an 81 or 82. I need to put the correct one on, which I happen to have on my parts truck, and I am wondering how much of a pain this is going to be. All this so I can put the correct grill back in. Thanks for any help.

What in the world is the difference between the two? I figured the '79-'91 were basically identical.
As for removal, there are a couple of inaccessible bolts that require you to pull the two front body-mounts off, and then there's all the wiring you have to snake out of there to get the front support off.

The brackets where the grills screw on are different. The 81 grill only has a couple of screw brackets on the bottom edge where the 79/80 grill has 5 brackets included 2 out under the headlights that the other one doesn't have. Thanks for letting me know I'm going to have a whole bunch of fun.

Just drill out the spotwelds on the extra brackets and re-weld or rivit them to the existing panels (whole lot faster, that panel is a bear to get out, you basically have to remove the nose

What are you going to do with the 81-82 grill? I might be interrested

Jeeptruck I'm not sure yet. Right now I'm waiting on the rain to go away so I can finish changing things out. I'll let you know.
